Glencadam Reserva Andalucia

For this Friday's review we have a new one from Glencadam, the Reserva Andalucia.
.
Did you know that Glencadam is now the only distillery in the county of Angus, an area of the Highlands region of Scotland. The first owner was a “Mr Cooper”, who sold the distillery in 1827. The name “Glencadam” comes from the area known as “The Tenements of Caldhame”. These were plots of ground given to the burghs of Brechin for food production. They were situated to the north and south east of the Den Burn where the distillery stands.

This new expression of Glencadam, Reserva Andalucia, pays homage to the relationship between Glencadam Distillery and the famous sherry region of Spain, Jerez in Andalucia.
Master Distiller Robert Fleming, carefully chose the very best sherry butts from the ancient dunnage warehouses at Glencadam to create Reserva Andalucia. Once married together with bourbon casks, it was finished in Oloroso sherry butts from Andalucia.
The result is a rich and sherry-forward expression, where the famous fruitiness of the Glencadam spirit is balanced with sultana and sweet-spice notes, that come from the Oloroso cask maturation.

It's a non-age statement, 46% ABV, unchillfiltered and natural color.

Here is my review:.
.
Nose: Dark fruit, soft nougat, oaky vanilla pods, brown sugar, fresh fudge and a hint of cinnamon.
.
Palate: Forest fruit, creamy, soft, toffee and sweet apples, raisins.
.
Finish: Long, silky. Honey, brown sugar, maple syrup and a hint of green tea.
.
Colour: Ripe golden barley.
.
All in all, another great whisky from Glencadam, a very good marriage between ex-bourbon and sherry cask whisky.

My name is Andrei, Andrei-Paul Muresan. I’m an IT professional, born in the wonderful year of 1982, in the heart of Transylvania (for people who don’t know, the heart of Transylvania is a city called Cluj-Napoca, located in Eastern Europe, in Romania to be more exact). I like to mix all that with a good tune and also a good game, I own a couple of game consoles.
