Tomintoul 14yo

For this weekend's review I received this nice bottle of Tomintoul 14yo from the good folks over at @tomintoulwhisky 🙏.
.
I took this shot at my in-laws country side house inside the vineyard 😍.
.
Here is my review:.
.
Nose: Malty, pears, bright apples, lime blossom, apple blossoms, honey, vanilla and toffee. Butterscotch and honey with a hint of citrus.
.
Palate: Creamy and soft, again apples, pears and citrus. Ginger, vanilla, nutmeg cinnamon and malty. A hint of spice. A drop o water opens up the flavours and it becomes more juicier with fresher ripe fruit, silky smooth.
.
Finish: Medium, sweet and spicy, with grapefruit, ginger and white pepper.
.
This is a Speyside whisky, matured in ex-bourbon casks for 14 years, it has a 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural color 👌🏻.
.
It's a balanced scotch, though considering the 46%ABV it came off a little light and mild, which really surprised me, I guess I was expecting a little bit more oomph. That being said, I think maybe this is what they were going for, absolutely nothing wrong with that 🥃.

Andrei Muresan

My name is Andrei, Andrei-Paul Muresan. I’m an IT professional, born in the wonderful year of 1982, in the heart of Transylvania (for people who don’t know, the heart of Transylvania is a city called Cluj-Napoca, located in Eastern Europe, in Romania to be more exact). As you might expect, given my profession, I’m passionate about technology and everything that surrounds it, but I am also a great spirits fan, and when I say spirits I mean scotch, whisk(e)y and cognac, and I also enjoy a good cigar (I never say no to a good cigar). I like to mix all that with a good tune and also a good game, I own a couple of game consoles. I am, by no means, an expert in the scotch/whisk(e)y/cognac/cigar world, but I am keen on learning everything there is to know about it, so I’m launching an invitation to you, to join me in this virtual journey as we learn together.
