How to get a refreshing mix with rum
Hey guys! Happy international cocktail day!
I’m back with a new post, this time with a rum based mix.
The weather is getting warmer and warmer with spring in full swing and with summer coming real quick just around the corner, I thought to myself what refreshing mix could I make. As I just got a fresh bottle of Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva which I like a lot, it hit me, I should make a Daquiri, a lime Daquiri so I get that sweet and sour fresh effect 😉
Origins
So, just to give you some background on this cocktail: Daiquirí is also the name of a beach and an iron mine near Santiago de Cuba, and is a word of Taíno origin. The drink was supposedly invented by an American mining engineer, named Jennings Cox, who was in Cuba at the time of the Spanish–American War.
Ingredients
Here we go, here is the list of what you need to make the Lime Daquiri.
What you need for ingredients and tools:
- 1 Jigger 25ml/50ml
- 1 Shaker
- 1 cocktail glass/martini glass
- 1 bottle of rum – I got the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva
- 1 bottle of sugar syrup – I got the Monin Pure Cane Sugar
- 1 Lime juice
- Ice
So, then how do you make it?
Well, there are a lot of recipes for Daquiri online, you have the Banana Daquiri, Strawberry Daquiri, but we’re going for the Lime Daquiri, because the lime gives it that sour refreshing taste, that’s what we want 😉
So, to mix it you need:
- about 50ml of rum
- about 25ml of lime juice
- 10ml of sugar syrop
- put all ingredients in a bar shaker with ice
- shake that thing silly
- strain into a chilled cocktail glass
And that’s it, you got yourself a refreshing Lime Daquiri!
Here’s a closer look at the finished mix !
Now it’s your turn, try it ! And let me know about your experience with mixing your very own home-made Lime Daquiri 😉
