Casa Batlló, FC Barcelona Official Nike Store – Barcelona

Hey guys! How’s it going?
So like I promised, I’m back with part two of my Spanish adventures! 😀

We started off by taking a stroll down Passeig de Gràcia, one of the major boulevards in Barcelona, from Plaça Catalunya to Carrer Gran de Gràcia. Of course we just had to do some shopping, could not be helped, so I grabbed a couple of sticks(cigars) from a local store 🙂

Of course we visited the big attractions, like Casa Amatller and Casa Batlló along with Casa Lleó-Morera, these three are the most important buildings in Barcelona and make up the famous Illa de la Discòrdia (“Block of Discord”), noted for its unique modernist buildings. Casa Batlló is one of Antoni Gaudi’s masterpieces, it’s unique.

And of course I had to take a look at the FC Barcelona Nike store!

Nomad Outland whisky, Macanudo Maduro cigar, Zippo lighter

Before I get to the sightseeing part of this post, I just want to share with you my findings about this great Spanish whisky.
A couple of days ago I was telling you about the DYC Spanish whisky and how that one turned out to be disappointing. I also told you that I had a surprise Spanish whisky, so here it is! It’s the Nomad Outland Spanish whisky! It’s a special whisky, born in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿and aged in Jerez🇪🇸. It is a blended whisky produced from a unique selection of over 30 different malt and grain whiskies from Speyside, The Higlands, Scotland, each 5 to 8 years old. The resulting blend is left to mature in Scotland in sherry casks for 3 years, altogether, before being transferred to Jerez where it will be finished for a mínimum of 12 months in old Pedro Ximenez casks in the San Fernando cellar of González Byass.

Tasting notes:
Nose: Notes of oak and sherry, raisin, marzipan, vanilla and malt.
Palate: Flavors of raisins, honey and a hint of sweet spices and fruit.
Finish: Medium long with hints of vanilla and dried fruit.
All in all a very good Spanish surprise! 😊🥃🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇸👍🏻💯

I bought this bottle from a local store called Lafuente – Colmado Quilez, I posted about this on Instagram, click here to go to the post.

I paired it with a new stick for me, the Macanudo Maduro, it’s quite different from everything I’ve tried. But let me tell you, this is one great cigar, handcrafted in the Dominican Republic, it is something I will try again for sure! 🇩🇴💨💯💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Lunch at Tapa Tapa – Barcelona

Now back to the sightseeing!

We had some lunch at a local restaurant called Tapa Tapa, we had some shrimp and Crema Catalana of course! If you’re ever in Barcelona and you’re looking for a quick and delicious bite, check them out, the food is great and the people are really friendly.

The sea food is good, oh and get the orange juice; yeah, I know, I said orange juice, but trust me, you haven’t tasted orange juice this good! 😉

We also visited Casa Milà, also by Gaudi, popularly known as La Pedrera or “The stone quarry”, a reference to its unconventional rough-hewn appearance, it has a really funky appearance, I’m not an expert obviously, so describing architecture is not my strong suite :-))

Another really cool place I liked was Park Güell, it’s really colorful. To bad we got caught up in a small storm and could not really visit all the park, but the parts we did visit were very nice! Oh and I forgot about the Borsa de Barcelona, what can you do, work habits :-))

Here are some shots I took.

Sagrada Família – Barcelona

And of course, what is a visit to Barcelona without visiting Sagrada Família. It is indeed like nothing I’ve ever seen, in terms of architecture. Construction started in 1866 and is scheduled to be finished in 2026, it looks like all the trends of architecture had a “fingerprint”on the final design, it is quite interesting to look at, and you can really let your imagination go wild while looking at all the different weird shapes.

I took some really nice shots from inside too, have a look below. Click on the photo for the large version.

Now to the good stuff, the whisky related part of my trip.

Our wonderful hosts, Raluca and Cristian, took us out on a Saturday night to this great bar, it’s called Bobby’s Free. It’s a unique bar, you’ll see that even before you enter, but I don’t want to spoil that for you, just find out for yourself!

Yamazaki 12y, Torres 15y – Bobby’s Free, Barcelona

I had a couple of great drinks at Bobby’s Free, they have a cool selection of Japanese whisky, so I had the Yamazaki, you can check out my review here , I will list it here too:

Nose: Seductive notes of peach, pineapple, grapefruit, sweet orange peel, vanilla and Japanese oak (Mizunara).
Palate: A strong aromatic bouquet dominated by notes of coconut, cranberry and butter.
Finish: Long, with ginger and cinnamon accents.
Color: Clean gold.

Another cool drink I had was the Torres brandy, I had the 15y at Bobby’s Free, I managed to get the 10y Torres at the duty-free. I was so happy when I saw it, because it’s a really great brandy! I posted about it here on Instagram.

In the last day of visiting Barcelona we finally had some really great weather, sunny and warm, so we took a stroll down to the beach, too bad I did not have my swim suit with me, I would have taken a dip in the sea. Check out some pictures from the beach below.

Andrei Muresan

My name is Andrei, Andrei-Paul Muresan. I’m an IT professional, born in the wonderful year of 1982, in the heart of Transylvania (for people who don’t know, the heart of Transylvania is a city called Cluj-Napoca, located in Eastern Europe, in Romania to be more exact). Here’s a photo of me, just to put a face to the name 😉 I mentioned Transylvania because most people are more likely to know where Transylvania is and not where Romania is 🙂 oh and by the way, vampires, they’re just ghost stories, sorry to disappoint everybody. As you might expect, given my profession, I’m passionate about technology and everything that surrounds it, but I am also a great spirits fan, and when I say spirits I mean scotch, whisk(e)y and cognac, and I also enjoy a good cigar (I never say no to a good cigar). I like to mix all that with a good tune and also a good game, I own a couple of game consoles. I am, by no means, an expert in the scotch/whisk(e)y/cognac/cigar world, but I am keen on learning everything there is to know about it, so I’m launching an invitation to you, to join me in this virtual journey as we learn together.
