Highland Park 10yo – The start of a journey

Hey guys. How’s it going? So I decided to start my Highland Park journey because, why not? πŸ˜„ As a friend told me recently “I don’t know how you survived so far without HP” 🀣 That’s just because there are so many excellent whiskies out there πŸ˜‰ But I’ve decided not to put this off any longer, so I’m starting my Highland Park journey with “the base model” πŸ˜„ the 10yo expression πŸ™‚πŸ₯ƒ.

The expression launched in 2013 and is a tribute to the Vikings, especially their talent, courage and professionalism. Before Orkney belonged to Scotland, the archipelago was part of the Viking Kingdom, and the founders of Highland Park were some of the first inhabitants of the islands. Just as the Vikings have influenced these places, these places influence the personality of Highland Park whisky. The gentle and yet slightly spicy and smoked character outlines an unusual profile that tells the story of the place.

Highland Park 10yo – Viking Scars

Here is my review:

Nose: Notes of citrus, vanilla, black grass and delicate smoke notes.

Palate: Hot honey and vanilla aromas are nicely complemented by peppery accents and a touch of smoke.

Finish: Gentle, aromatic.

Color: Light golden.

It’s a good scotch, not very complex but quite pleasent πŸ™‚ I will need to go deeper into the Highland Park whisky to really understand the craze πŸ˜‰.

Cheers!✨πŸ₯ƒβœŒπŸ»οΈ

Andrei Muresan

My name is Andrei, Andrei-Paul Muresan. I’m an IT professional, born in the wonderful year of 1982, in the heart of Transylvania (for people who don’t know, the heart of Transylvania is a city called Cluj-Napoca, located in Eastern Europe, in Romania to be more exact). Here’s a photo of me, just to put a face to the name πŸ˜‰ I mentioned Transylvania because most people are more likely to know where Transylvania is and not where Romania is πŸ™‚ oh and by the way, vampires, they’re just ghost stories, sorry to disappoint everybody. As you might expect, given my profession, I’m passionate about technology and everything that surrounds it, but I am also a great spirits fan, and when I say spirits I mean scotch, whisk(e)y and cognac, and I also enjoy a good cigar (I never say no to a good cigar). I like to mix all that with a good tune and also a good game, I own a couple of game consoles. I am, by no means, an expert in the scotch/whisk(e)y/cognac/cigar world, but I am keen on learning everything there is to know about it, so I’m launching an invitation to you, to join me in this virtual journey as we learn together.
