Allright so I’ll be transparent : Talisker is a favourite of mine ! I went on Skye in 2013 and bought a bottle of Distiller’s Edition 2012 at the distillery, and this was basically the whisky that got me hooked (or addicted and alcoholic if you ask my mom 👀) on whisky ! And to be honest, they produce good and accessible whisky (except with the Skye Edition…that wasn’t so good) !
So here is my review of the 57° North ! And I swear I’m being objective 😎
Color: orange desert.
Nose: peat ash, raw sugar, Sherry casks, salt and pepper.
Palate: big roundness on the palate, sea salt, heated volcanic stone, some peat.
Finish: Spicy, slightly peppery and salty finish, VERY VERY slow and going down into the oesophagus.
Comments: throughout the tasting, the high alcohol level is not felt at all, which is quite surprising! With a great roundness, it is very well balanced between all its elements. Definitely to buy … and it does not matter the price!
