Hey guys, how’s it going?

It’s New Year’s Eve already and 2018 is coming to an end quickly ๐Ÿ™‚

For me 2018 has been packed with excitement and new beginnings, I started my Instagram account in January and managed to get to, at the moment of typing this post, almost, 10K followers, which to me is very fulfilling. I also started this blog, in February, and it’s growing steadily ๐Ÿ™‚  But the most important thing to me was discovering this really cool community on Instagram, whisky and cigar lovers. I am happy to be part of this community and glad to have made so many friends in the process, this to me is the most valuable thing ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is my best nine Instagram posts compilation. Looks like you guys like summer, cocktails, Japanese whisky and, of course, whisky and cheese pairings ๐Ÿ˜€

Cheers to friendship and new beginnings! ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ๐Ÿฅƒ

Like some of you know, I’m having the New Year’s party in the countryside, in Moldova, Romania. We have quite a few and unique traditions here, so I leave you with a clip depicting one of the interesting traditions that take place on New Year’s Eve here in Moldova, Romania.

The Walking with the Bear tradition is seen only in Moldova, on New Year’s Eve. The bear is embodied by a boy wearing an animal skin on his head and shoulders, adorned with ears with red tassels. The mask is led by an “ursar”, accompanied by musicians, and often followed by a whole host of characters (including a baby in the role of a “bear cub”). In the beating of the drums or the song of the whistle, and helped by a stalker, the mask mumbles and imitates swaying and jerky legs of the bear, strongly striking the ground with the soles. The significance is soil purification and fertilization in the new year. There is a hypothesis that the origin of this custom would be a traco-getic cult. On New Year’s Eve, a bunch of carolers have a special role, they give best wishes, joy, richness and health to the host(s), then in return they receive traditional home made pastries and desserts, wine, sausages, and sometimes money. I have a cool video of this tradition as it happened earlier this morning at the place we are staying:

Andrei Muresan

My name is Andrei, Andrei-Paul Muresan. Iโ€™m an IT professional, born in the wonderful year of 1982, in the heart of Transylvania (for people who donโ€™t know, the heart of Transylvania is a city called Cluj-Napoca, located in Eastern Europe, in Romania to be more exact). Hereโ€™s a photo of me, just to put a face to the name ๐Ÿ˜‰ I mentioned Transylvania because most people are more likely to know where Transylvania is and not where Romania is ๐Ÿ™‚ oh and by the way, vampires, theyโ€™re just ghost stories, sorry to disappoint everybody. As you might expect, given my profession, Iโ€™m passionate about technology and everything that surrounds it, but I am also a great spirits fan, and when I say spirits I mean scotch, whisk(e)y and cognac, and I also enjoy a good cigar (I never say no to a good cigar). I like to mix all that with a good tune and also a good game, I own a couple of game consoles. I am, by no means, an expert in the scotch/whisk(e)y/cognac/cigar world, but I am keen on learning everything there is to know about it, so Iโ€™m launching an invitation to you, to join me in this virtual journey as we learn together.
